New Arrivals!!!

We're in love with our new earrings! You can check out the rest on our site, but here is a sneak peak of my new favorite (red and orange)

In the Garden

I'm in love with June... I've missed it all year, and now that it's back, I want to hold onto it and never let go. The best part being all the beautiful-ness happening in our garden! It just makes you want to sing "the hills are alive with the sound of music" from the top of your lungs while frolicking through your yard. Unfortunately, my neighbors are a little to close for comfort... and things could get weird fast. So, instead, I'll share a few "what's blooming" pictures so I can keep my reputation in tact.
This is most likely my last round of Hydrangea blooms for the house :(

Absolutely in love with the Black Eyed Susans this year- this is the Toto Lemon species and has a purplish center
Daylillies! Got these from Abide Awhile in Mount Pleasant last year and they've been AMAZING- I love no maintenance blooming perennials!
Stokes Aster- We use this for ground cover around one of our crepe myrtles and it's absolutely gorgeous. Last year it was a bit wimpy, but came back in full force. The purple flowers have been blooming since early May.
Baby Sun Rose- We just planted this for ground cover in our patio flower bed. I'll report back on how it does, but it has a really cool waxy leaf with orange buds that open during the day and close at night.
Last but not least, our Camellia bush! They finished blooming a while ago, but they're my absolute favorite... and I figured what the hey.
Thanks for tolerating my post of garden pictures, but I've been so excited about all the June blooming!

Sarah & Brett's Wedding Shower

Recently, we hosted a wedding shower for one of my best friends. Here are a few of the pictures from the big event with some descriptions of what you’re seeing. Enjoy!
Our present to Brett & Sarah was a gift basket with a gift for each day of the week leading up to the wedding (7 gifts). The gifts were numbered to signify which day to open them with a card that explained the rest… Each card included the date to open and a hint of what was inside. For example: “Hats off to the Bride and Groom” was the hint for the first day, and the present included 2 hats (a white one with Bride embroidered on it, and a Black one with Groom on it).

All of the gifts were usable additions for the finishing touches of the wedding. The last present being a bottle of Prosecco and two wine glasses reading “Cheers, now sit back, relax, & enjoy!”

The two presents out front are Bride & Groom survival kits that can be found HERE. We wanted Sarah and Brett to have something to open AT the shower, as well as, the week before presents.

We framed a poem that explained what the gift was. I didn’t want to look like the crazy women that numbers gifts… that would be weird.

Lanterns lined the entrance to the house. Initials were placed on the ones leading up the stairs. Engagement rings were placed on the lanterns by the front benches. (Please excuse the extremely cute dog)

Lantern. Love.
Loved our flower arrangements flanked by votives… Pink and Periwinkle were the colors and Twigs did a great job matching them.
Here comes the bride…

To all those B’s marrying S’s- Remember, the S needs to come first… Otherwise, it might get a little Hairy, and that’s just a bunch of BS!
Last but not least, we sent our guests home with a searcy. Two Dunkin’ Donuts- YUM! Please take a moment to admire my masterful pyramid stacking abilities… right hand over left shoulder and I’ll pat that back!
That concludes the picture tour. Thanks for stoppin’ by!

30th Birthday Bash!

I love everything Tailgate, but in my spare time… I LOVE putting on events. So, when my husband and best friend’s 30th Birthday came knocking I answered the door and said “Yes, Please!”

We wanted to make their Surprise Party extra special since it was a combined event. The big question was how to make sure each person would have their own event while they celebrated together. My solution: to have a favorites party… This way we could celebrate each of their favorite things over the past thirty years. For example- for their Birthday Cakes we got William a Sweet Potato cake from Brickstreet Cafe and Haley a Key Lime pie… both of them got their ULTIMATE favorite everything… all the way down to the food (for William- Chicken & Dumplings, BBQ, Nams Bites, dirt cake it containers that said “live bait”, etc & for Haley Lobster Mac n Cheese, Baked Brie, Hamby’s Chicken Salad, Toffee, etc).

Here is a little documentation of the event and all the Favorites we celebrated!

Sometimes 30 Sucks, and sometimes 30 Rocks… you could choose which with our Searcy!

Both Haley and William had a “Favorites Beverage Station”

William’s Station included- Madras, Beer, Cab, & Pinot Noir… All the bottles were labeled with 30th Birthday catch phrases!

Haley’s Station included her favorite drinks- Skinny Girl Margaritas, Espresso Martinis, & Prosecco… Also, tagged with 30th Catch Phrases!

A few of the Extra Touches!

...obviously, we had to include our dogs in the fun!
Cake Table (Pre-Cake) with the Surprise signs that were Held up for the big SURPRISE!

All of the food had labels matching the napkins signifying if it was Haley or William’s favorite food.

Last Picture, I promise. I was pretty proud of my flower arrangement skills… Here’s one of the arrangements. Unfortunately, during the event I completely forgot to take “scenery” shots, so this is the only one I’ll leave you with!

Tailgate Treat- S'more Cookies

I have no will power. It’s a major fault, but I get through life by never buying/keeping any sweets in the house… and when I get the urge, I go to the nearest gas station and OD on snickers. I do. Anyway, the exception to my no sweets rule is my annual cookie party. All the girls come over, bake, drink wine, and catch an intense sugar high. I’m excited to share my creation and the recipe from my pinterest find, S’more cookies. I’ve already decided that this will be a staple at this years tailgates.

S’more Awesome-ness

Crust
  • 1 cup finely crushed graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling
  • 4 bars (1.55 oz each) milk chocolate candy, divided
  • 12 large marshmallows
Directions:
Crush Graham crackers in a large zip lock bag. When finely crushed combine with powder sugar and butter in a small bowl. Place 1 tablespoon of mixture into each cup of a mini muffin pan. (I’ve found that this consistently fills up 1 dozen and 11 mini muffin cups… which is kind of annoying)
Press crumbs to form shallow cups. Make sure each cup is tightly packed with a dip in the middle. Bake 4-5 minutes or until edges are bubbling.

Break two of the candy bars into rectangles. Break each rectangle in half and place in each cup.

Cut marshmallows in half crosswise using shears dipped in cold water. Place one marshmallow half, cut-side down, into each cup. Return to oven 1-2 minutes or until marshmallows are slightly softened. Remove pans from oven to cooling rack; cool 15 minutes. Carefully remove cups from pan. Cool completely.

Break remaining candy bars and place in small microwavable bowl. Microwave on high 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring every 20 seconds. Spoon melted chocolate over top of marshmallows, forming a dallop… and eat… this cookie begs the question… would you like s’more? (sometimes you just have to go for the easy joke)

Hope you enjoy this Tailgate Treat! The Queen of the Tailgate team is definitely in love!
